Using Electric Kettles To Brew Coffee Directly Has Sparked Heated Discussion Among Consumers

2025-08-13

Recently, the practice of brewing coffee directly in electric kettles has become increasingly popular among young consumers, garnering attention from coffee enthusiasts and the home appliance industry. Compared to traditional coffee machines or pour-over kettles, electric kettles offer significant advantages in convenience and space, sparking interest among novice coffee enthusiasts.

According to industry insiders, while electric kettles are primarily designed for boiling water, some models with thermostats or food-grade stainless steel interiors can meet the required water temperature requirements for brewing ground coffee. Users simply heat water to the appropriate temperature, pour it into a cup, and brew the ground coffee, or briefly brew it in a heat-resistant electric kettle for a rich, fragrant cup of coffee.

However, experts warn that brewing coffee directly in an electric kettle can lead to residue and a change in taste. If not cleaned promptly, coffee oils and fines can affect the flavor of the next brew. To avoid flavor transfer, some consumers purchase electric kettles specifically designed for coffee.

Home appliance industry analysts believe that while this method disrupts traditional coffee making methods, the trend toward smaller, more portable beverage preparation at home may spur the development of more multifunctional appliances. For example, multi-purpose appliances that boil water, brew, and keep warm are expected to become a new bright spot in the future home appliance market.

Currently, some brands have begun emphasizing the multi-purpose nature of electric kettles in their marketing, even launching versions optimized for coffee lovers. This trend is likely to further expand the electric kettle market in the beverage preparation sector.
