Electric kettles are usually not induction appliances. A standard electric kettle heats water through a built-in electric heating element inside the kettle base or bottom plate, while an induction kettle is normally a stovetop kettle made with a magnetic metal base for use on an induction cooktop. The two products may both heat water quickly, but their working principles, safety design, and purchasing focus are different.
Induction heating works through an electromagnetic field that heats ferromagnetic cookware directly. This means the kettle base must contain magnetic stainless steel or another induction-compatible material. A regular plug-in electric kettle does not need an induction cooktop because it already has its own heating system, power base, thermostat, switch, and safety control.

Type Heating Method Main Use
Electric kettle Built-in electric heating element Home, hotel, office, coffee bar
Induction kettle Magnetic base heated by cooktop Kitchen stovetop use
Electric gooseneck kettle Built-in heater with controlled spout Pour-over coffee and tea
Temperature control kettle Electric heating with set temperature Coffee, tea, beverage service
For project procurement, this difference matters because customers may confuse “electric kettle” with “induction kettle.” A plug-in electric kettle should be evaluated by voltage, wattage, heating speed, inner material, thermostat accuracy, auto shutoff, boil-dry protection, plug type, and packaging strength. IEC 60335-2-15 covers safety requirements for appliances used to heat liquids, including electric kettles rated not more than 250V, making safety structure a key reference for product selection.
Heating efficiency is also important. Based on the specific heat of water, 4.186 kJ per kg per °C, heating 1 liter of water from 20°C to 100°C needs about 0.093 kWh in theory. A well-designed electric kettle heats water directly and reduces unnecessary heat loss, which makes it practical for repeated beverage preparation in hotels, offices, coffee shops, and retail channels.
HUGHES focuses on coffee appliance manufacturing, including electric kettles, electric coffee kettles, electric gooseneck kettles, temperature control kettles, Coffee Grinders, milk frothers, coffee servers, coffee sets, and brewing tools. Our team supports OEM and ODM customization for capacity, voltage, plug type, stainless steel structure, spout design, handle style, temperature display, finish, packaging, and market positioning.
Professional advice is to choose the kettle according to the sales scenario. For coffee channels, a temperature control electric gooseneck kettle can improve pouring accuracy and brewing consistency. For hotels and offices, compact electric kettles with safe operation and easy cleaning are more practical. For retail supply, appearance, packaging, safety marks, user instructions, and bulk order stability should be reviewed together.
